My favorite medium has always been charcoal. There’s nothing like getting your hands dirty and working to capture a moment in time that can’t be replicated by way of life drawing models. No pose is ever the same. No angle can be redone without extensive taping, re-lighting, and multi source positional validation. Shading and conturing quickly as can only be done with charcoal can set the mood and actually tell a story on its own.
